Today's update ...

There are two items I am blogging about today:

The first is Tulip City Beauty College. Usually I go to Le Salon for my pedicures, but earlier this week I received a coupon in the mail for a pedicure at this beauty school (located on 8th St). I went there for the first time today and it really was a great experience! My cosmetologist's name was Dana and she'll be graduating later this year. She was excellent and I already booked my next appointment with her. This beauty school is like any other salon, except that the instructor checks the student's work before they start and again after. So obviously you're going to receive the very best salon experience!

I was actually quite surprised to see a gentleman getting a pedicure there too. He was saying how all men should have this done because of how relaxing it is. He said his wife got him hooked on pedicures 5 years ago and absolutely loves them. ~Awesome!~

Second item of the day:

I have quite large amounts of algae growing on my aquarium decorations and decided that I was going to have to: 1) buy new decorations, 2) take these out and scrub them, or 3) buy some more algae-eaters. I do have a flying fox who had been working quite hard, but I think it's more than he can handle. I talked with Larry at Petco about this situation and he recommended that I buy some more algae-eaters, especially since my water is testing perfectly. He said having algae is normal for lighted tanks. I walked out of the store with 4 japanese algae-eating shrimp, which should do the trick. The nice thing is that these don't count towards my fish quantity, because algae-eaters are in a separate category. (P.S. For those who are allergic to shrimp, as long as you don't eat them, you'll be fine.)

Here is one of the shrimp on the mayan ruins.

There's one on the filter.

The problem with these shrimp is that they are iridescent. They are commonly called "ghost shrimp" because of how difficult they are to find. After I added them into the tank, it took me awhile to find them. I think I'll call them my "hidden workers".
