Do you remember that book, "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"?
Today was the exact OPPOSITE of that book. It was an AWESOME day!!
And why is that??? For three reasons:
1) I went to the Dr for my 2-week post-op appt this morning. The issues I am having with my bladder (that I thought was from the kinked catheter in the hospital) is not an infection. And it's not even from the catheter. It's from the stitches that are surrounding my bladder. Every time I use the restroom, it's painful because the stitches are pushing against it. I had completely forgotten that I would have stitches in that area. Those should dissolve in another 4 weeks, and as time goes on, the pain will diminish. It's not bad enough that I need to take any pain pills, as it only hurts when I need to use the restroom. The fact that I don't have an infection is very good news!
2) I was able to return to work today. I was thrilled! I surprised everyone by showing up, as they all thought that maybe I'd return next week. Of course, sitting on my chair all day put pressure on my bladder, which didn't make it hurt, but boy, did I have to pee all day. I felt like a pregnant woman. (Thank goodness those days are over!) So the ability to return to work, and not have any abdominal pain, was awesome!
3) And the best news of all ... I CAN NOW DRIVE!!! I drove Jon's truck from the Dr's office to the shop and I realized that I'm much too tiny to drive such a big vehicle. I can do it, but it sure would be nice to drive a vehicle that is more "my size". My sweet hubby surprised me with a card, with an air freshener inside, to congratulate me on my ability to start driving again. What a thoughtful gift! So tomorrow will be my first day of driving Blake to school in a year (hopefully in a car that is more my size).
Oh, Happy Day!!
