For crying out loud ...

That's it. I'm not going to my Bible Study anymore. Reason being? It seems like every time I do, there's a wild critter that somehow gets himself into our chicken pen. (Yes, I know the two are not related. But in my sub-conscious, they most definitely are).

You heard me right ... a RACCOON got into our chicken pen tonight while I was at Bible Study. Thank goodness he was only after the eggs, as they were all smashed and we still have 5 alive chickens. The light was out also, as it probably got unplugged in the fight between the chickens and the raccoon. Jon caught him in the act, and before he could do anything else, the raccoon ran away.

This is ridiculous. They're not even our chickens, for crying out loud!! Leave the poor birds alone, you mangy wild pests!!

Are we now rethinking of getting our own chickens? Not sure yet. Our chickens' owner will be back in a few weeks, and then Jon & I are going away for a week over Spring Break, just the two of us. I. CAN. NOT. WAIT to spend this time alone with him. The last time we went away like this was our honeymoon, which was almost 9 years ago. We've had weekend getaways here and there, but nothing like this. I'm calling this our "second honeymoon". Because I want to. Thank you to Grandma for taking Blake during this time!!

Anyway, back to the chickens. We'll take some time to ponder what we want to do, as having these wild animals attack our chickens or eggs is very traumatizing to us. If Jon were to make a coop and pen, he would probably make it wild-animal proof. That would be awesome.

Stupid wild animals. Why can't you show your faces when I'm sitting on my porch with my rifle? Huh? Scared? Gotta pick on someone smaller than you, do ya? Well, not anymore. I'm gonna get you, you just wait and see.
