Our Pastor just received a call from another church up in Grandville. This means that they want him to be their pastor. He has 3 weeks to decide if he'll take it or stay with Bethany.
And I'm devastated.
We came back to Bethany after a year's absence because of him. Well, not JUST because of him, there were a few other reasons, but he was a main factor. He came to our house and visited with me when I dislocated my knee, even though we had just started attending Bethany for about a month. He attended Jon's Mom's funeral up in Ionia a few years ago, which really meant a lot to us. And even after we left Bethany and attended RidgePoint for about a year, then returned to Bethany, he remembered little details about our families and asked us about them by name. He knows all the children of the church by name, and all their parents by name. He always has a nice compliment to give you, and I feel that he is one of the best Pastors I've ever come across.
Now he may be leaving us. And our church may be without a Pastor for a year or so.
Part of me wants to tell him ... "Don't leave. Stay here." But that would be selfish.
I know I have to leave it all up to God and what His will is. The fear of the unknown is permeating throughout our church.
"Lord ... let Your will be done, whatever it may be. You have big plans in our Pastor's life, as well as ours. You know what is going to happen with our church. I ask that you calm my nerves, as well as everyone else's. Please help our Pastor make the right decision. And if he were to leave us, that You would bring someone else to our church to help guide us in Your Word. Amen."
