I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for all your prayers. I know that everyone who reads this blog has said a prayer for Grandma, and God truly listens.
I had an opportunity to talk with Grandma's Dr today. He said she is improving, her heart is getting stronger, and she definitely does not look like someone who is dying. He said that she'll be in the hospital for about 2 weeks, receiving OT & PT. (I was in her room when the OT gal came in; basically they want to strengthen her arms and legs so she can go back to her normal self). She's going to continue being on antibiotics for the rest of this week to help with her ear infection and some Dopamine to help with her pain. In about 3 weeks, the Dr is expecting her to go home, live on her own with the assistance of a Home Health Aid. Praise God! To go from "she could go any minute now" to "we're planning on her going home in a few weeks" in truly a miracle!
Of course, her heart is still failing, and she could go when her time was ready. The Dr said he's seen patients with worse damage to their heart and still live another year. We're pretty optimistic. It's very possible that she goes home, then dies in her sleep. That's reality. But as least we know that she's not going anywhere anytime soon.
